What is OSIRIS?

What is OSIRIS and what does it do?

OSIRIS is an Open Source Intelligence & Reconnaissance Integrated System that provides a real-time global intelligence dashboard. It aggregates live flight tracking, CCTV networks, earthquake monitoring, conflict zone mapping, and 24/7 news feeds into a single GPU-accelerated interface. The platform is designed for comprehensive situational awareness across multiple intelligence domains.

How is OSIRIS different from other intelligence platforms?

OSIRIS stands out through its real-time data aggregation, GPU-accelerated rendering for 60fps performance, and comprehensive coverage across 16+ intelligence domains. Unlike many alternatives, it's built with modern web technologies (Next.js 16, MapLibre GL) and offers a browser-based interface without requiring local installation. It provides both visualization tools and active reconnaissance capabilities through its integrated RECON Toolkit.

Is OSIRIS a Palantir alternative?

Yes, OSIRIS can be considered an alternative to platforms like Palantir for certain use cases. While Palantir is primarily an enterprise-grade data fusion platform, OSIRIS offers similar capabilities for intelligence gathering and analysis but with a focus on real-time, geospatial data visualization and a more accessible, web-based interface.

Who is OSIRIS for?

Who typically uses OSIRIS?

OSIRIS is designed for professionals who need comprehensive intelligence gathering and analysis capabilities. Our primary users include:

  • Security Teams: Monitoring threats, vulnerabilities, and cyber attacks
  • Defense & Intelligence: Situational awareness across multiple domains
  • Journalists: Verifying information and monitoring breaking news
  • Emergency Response: Coordinating disaster relief efforts
  • Corporate Security: Tracking threats and monitoring areas of interest
  • Researchers: Analyzing patterns and gathering data for studies
What skill level is required to use OSIRIS?

OSIRIS is designed to be accessible to users with varying technical backgrounds. The basic visualization interface is intuitive and requires minimal technical knowledge. However, the RECON Toolkit and advanced features are most effective when used by professionals with experience in intelligence gathering, cybersecurity, or research.

Do I need to install any software to use OSIRIS?

No, OSIRIS is a web-based platform that runs entirely in your browser. There is no installation required. You can access it from any modern web browser on desktop or mobile devices. All processing and rendering happens in the browser, with the platform handling all data fetching and visualization server-side.

What are the system requirements for using OSIRIS?

OSIRIS works on any modern web browser with WebGL support. For optimal performance, we recommend:

  • Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge (latest versions)
  • Stable internet connection for real-time data
  • WebGL enabled in your browser
  • At least 4GB RAM for smooth operation
  • Modern GPU for better rendering performance

Features & Capabilities

What intelligence domains does OSIRIS cover?

OSIRIS integrates data from 16+ intelligence domains:

  • Aviation: Commercial, private, military aircraft tracking
  • Maritime: Global ports and chokepoint monitoring
  • CCTV: 17,000+ public cameras worldwide
  • Seismic: Real-time earthquake monitoring (M2.5+)
  • Fires: Active wildfire hotspot tracking
  • News: 24/7 live streams from 23 global broadcasters
  • Weather: Severe weather event monitoring
  • Space: Satellite tracking and solar weather
  • Cyber: CVE threats and vulnerability scanning
  • Conflict: 13 active conflict zone monitoring
  • Crypto: BTC/ETH wallet tracing and OFAC matching
  • Sanctions: SDN list search and cross-checking
  • Telegram: Public channel geoparsing
What is the RECON Toolkit and how does it work?

The RECON Toolkit is an integrated suite of active intelligence gathering tools that allows you to perform reconnaissance directly within the OSIRIS interface. It includes:

  • Port Scanner: TCP connect scan with service fingerprinting
  • DNS Lookup: Full record resolution (A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CNAME)
  • WHOIS: Domain/IP registration data with SDN cross-checking
  • SSL/TLS Inspector: Certificate chain analysis
  • IP Intelligence: Geolocation, ASN, threat reputation
  • Vulnerability Scanner: CVE lookup against NVD database
  • Crypto Wallet Trace: BTC/ETH balance and transaction history
  • OFAC Sanctions Search: Full-text search across SDN lists

These tools provide immediate results without leaving the platform, enabling seamless integration between passive observation and active reconnaissance.

How does the CCTV network work?

OSIRIS integrates over 17,000 public cameras from various sources including TfL, WSDOT, Caltrans, ODOT, MDOT, HK Transport Dept, Taiwan THB, NZTA, Rijkswaterstaat, and public webcams. These are refreshing JPEG snapshots, not video streams. You can click on camera markers to view the live snapshot. The Texas CCTV network is specifically integrated with TxDOT ITS snapshots for detailed regional coverage.

What is the Telegram OSINT layer?

The Telegram OSINT layer scrapes public channel feeds from the unauthenticated `t.me/s/` web preview (no Bot API token required). It includes a default curated set of 5 channels for EN + RU/UA war reporting, which can be overridden via environment variables. Posts are geoparsed against a multilingual place dictionary (EN + Cyrillic + Arabic) and plotted as cyan dots on the map. Clicking any dot allows you to read the post and jump to the original on Telegram.

How does the crypto wallet intelligence feature work?

The crypto intelligence feature allows you to trace Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets with comprehensive analysis. For BTC, it uses the blockstream.info Esplora API (keyless), while for ETH it queries Blockscout's public instance. Every lookup is automatically cross-checked against the OFAC SDN sanctioned-address list, with sanctioned wallets displaying a red "SANCTIONED — OFAC SDN" badge in the RECON panel for immediate identification.
